CMEA 2018 - VIII Learning Styles World Congress
Barranquilla - Colombia | October 10, 11 y 12, 2018

Introduction

One of the topics that has been widely researched for a long time by psychologists, teachers and researchers is to find out more on how people learn so new strategies may be developed and promoted thus this learning can be more effective and efficient. This is of a great importance for teaching, since the teaching and learning processes can be affected positively or negatively if these aspects are left aside. Believing that all people learn in the same way and that it should be taught in the same way has been a need to fulfil in the field of pedagogy and didactics. Each person has a preferred learning style, and this leads him/her to use different strategies to address a task or activity, which means there are differences in the learning processes. This is why teachers should manage the existence of the theory of learning styles in order to adapt their pedagogical practices to these particularities in the classroom and improve the quality of the educational process in every way.

Among the variables that take place in the low-achievement school performance, learning environments fail to satisfy students’ particular needs. Therefore, the implementation of strategies that involves the development of these theories and the pedagogical implications in the classroom by the teacher are needed. Students as major actors in the process of learning should know how they process, organize, perceive or interact with the information given or received. The purpose of this World Congress is to contribute with significant and innovative experiences on this subject in order to strengthen the processes of teaching and learning.
